Why some numbers differ
- Placements come first from published academic scores (Voteview, Shor–McCarty, DIME). Those exist only for people with a voting or fundraising record, so incumbents and established candidates of any party are placed more often than first-time candidates. The last row shows each party's share of incumbents for that reason. Minor-party candidates rarely have one.
- AI estimates are shown only when there is enough evidence in the candidate's own record. The AI is never told the party (it reads only the candidate's own record; its exact instructions), and when it isn't sure, we show nothing rather than guess.
- Websites and social accounts are linked only when the candidate's own site or Wikidata lists them. Candidates without a campaign site get fewer links, whatever their party.
The same rules apply to every candidate; the differences above come from what each candidate has published, not from their party. How it works.
Ballot measures
Across the 141 statewide measures we've explained so far, we list 251 arguments from supporters and 251 from opponents. Each measure gets the same number per side, in each side's own words; where a side has no organized campaign, we say so instead of filling the gap.
