Ballot measure · November 3, 2026 · Tucson voters

What it does
REAUTHORIZING, FOR THE TWENTY YEARS BEGINNING JANUARY 1, 2028 AND ENDING DECEMBER 31, 2047, A ONE-TENTH-CENT (0.1%) TRANSACTION PRIVILEGE (SALES) TAX AND USE TAX; DEDICATING THE TAX REVENUES TO FUND CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS, INFRASTRUCTURE REPAIR AND REPLACEMENT, EXHIBIT EXPANSION, AND RELATED IMPROVEMENTS, OPERATIONS, AND MAINTENANCE AT THE GENE REID PARK ZOO. A “YES” vote shall have the effect of reauthorizing, for an additional twenty years after December 31, 2027 (January 1, 2028 to December 31, 2047), the one-tenth-cent (0.1%) transaction privilege (sales) tax and use tax to fund capital improvements, infrastructure repair and replacement, exhibit expansion, and related improvements, operations, and maintenance at the Gene Reid Park Zoo. A “NO” vote shall have the effect of rejecting the proposed reauthorization, for an additional twenty years after December 31, 2027 (January 1, 2028 to December 31, 2047), of the one-tenth-cent (0.1%) transaction privilege (sales) tax and use tax for the Gene Reid Park Zoo.
A YES vote means
Tucson's one-tenth-cent (0.1%) sales and use tax for the Gene Reid Park Zoo would be reauthorized for 20 years, January 1, 2028, to December 31, 2047, for capital improvements, repairs, exhibit expansion, operations and maintenance.
A NO vote means
The 0.1% sales and use tax for the Gene Reid Park Zoo would not be reauthorized for 2028 through 2047.
What it would cost
0.1% sales tax: $0.10 on a $100 taxable purchase. It would continue a tax already in place rather than add a new one.
Needed to pass
A simple majority: more than half of the YES and NO votes on this measure must be YES. Leaving it blank doesn't count either way.
Left–right lean
Not a left–right issue: a procedural or local question that liberals and conservatives don't typically split on (AI read of the official ballot summary).

The YES and NO lines are SpectrumVote's plain-language reading of the official text above; the official text is what you vote on.
