Worked as a firefighter and postal worker before entering politics. Elected 36th Ward alderman in 2011; after redistricting, won the 38th Ward seat in 2015, ran unopposed in 2019 and was reelected in 2023. Chairs the City Council Committee on Special Events, Cultural Affairs and Recreation.
