Took office as 49th Ward alderperson in 2019, defeating Ald. Joe Moore. Before her election she was executive director of Our City Our Voice, a nonprofit she founded, and a founding board member of The Participatory Budgeting Project. Chairs the City Council Committee on Environmental Protection and Energy.
