Background
Chicago alderperson, 5th Ward
Elected 5th Ward alderperson in April 2023, defeating Martina "Tina" Hone in a runoff to succeed Ald. Leslie Hairston. Previously worked in sales and sales management, then as a community organizer, including with the Inner-City Muslim Action Network; co-founded the Grassroots Alliance for Police Accountability. Serves as vice chair of the City Council Committee on Public Safety.
