How it works

  • Metro elections are held every four years in August under the Metro Charter; the Davidson County Election Commission hasn't published the 2027 calendar yet.
  • A bill in the state legislature (HB 1497) would move Metro's elections to 2028 and lengthen terms. It passed the state House on April 21, 2026 and hasn't passed the Senate.
  • Candidates need 25 signatures of registered voters to qualify.
