- Not a left–right issue: a procedural or local question that liberals and conservatives don't typically split on (AI read of the official ballot summary).
Background
According to Pima County's official proposition text, Proposition 426 would let the Amphitheater Governing Board sell, lease or exchange six parcels. They are vacant land on N. San Joaquin Ave., the Copper Creek, Donaldson, Holaway and Nash elementary school sites, and the Amphitheater Land Lab site on E. Wetmore Road.
The proposition text says the district has no current plan to sell any of the parcels and that any future sale would be at the Governing Board's discretion. Proceeds would go to school sites, buildings, technology, student transportation vehicles or other permitted capital spending.
The district says the Governing Board voted unanimously on January 13, 2026 to close Copper Creek, Donaldson, Holaway and Nash elementary schools.
