Background

According to Pima County's official proposition text, Proposition 428 would extend and increase Sahuarita Unified's existing override. Without approval, that override is scheduled to drop by one-third in 2028-29 and another third in 2029-30, and end in 2030-31.

The proposition text estimates the increase of the proposed 2027-28 budget over the alternate budget at $427,959. It says the override would equal 15% of the revenue control limit through 2031-32, then 10% in 2032-33 and 5% in 2033-34.

The proposition text estimates the secondary tax rate needed at $1.31 per $100 of assessed value, funded entirely by local property taxes.
