Background
The Pacifica School District Board of Trustees proposes to renew and extend its existing parcel tax, Measure D, which expires June 30, 2027, according to the impartial analysis; the measure needs two-thirds of the vote.
The tax would be $118 per parcel a year, adjusted for inflation, from July 1, 2027 through June 30, 2037, and is estimated to raise $1,300,000 a year for core academics, art and music, teacher retention, technology, libraries and support for struggling students, but not administrator salaries or benefits.
Owners 65 or older who live on their parcel, and people receiving SSI or SSDI for a disability with income below 250% of the 2012 federal poverty guidelines, may apply for an exemption; the District's existing Citizens' Oversight Committee would continue to review spending.
