Background
House Bill 1213, passed by the Georgia General Assembly in 2026, would let the City of Mableton use all powers under Georgia's Redevelopment Powers Law (Chapter 44 of Title 36 of the O.C.G.A.).
According to the Act, the purpose is to let Mableton carry out community redevelopment, create tax allocation districts, issue tax allocation bonds, and take on related obligations.
If a majority of Mableton voters approve, those powers take effect immediately. If not, the Act is automatically repealed on the following January 1. The Act requires the City of Mableton to pay the cost of the election.
