Background

Senate Bill 469, sponsored by Sens. Still (48th) and Dolezal (27th), is a local act of the Georgia General Assembly. It amends the 1964 act that created the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners.

Under the bill, a commissioner elected after January 1, 2027 who has served two full terms could not run for another term until four years after the end of the last one.

The bill states that terms served fully or in part before the provision takes effect count toward the limit.

If a majority approves, the term limit takes effect January 1, 2027; if not, the act is automatically repealed 365 days after the election.

Put on the ballot by Georgia General Assembly, signed by the Governor in 2026 (SB 469, Act No. 611).
