Background
The Northfield Township Board of Trustees passed three resolutions on May 12, 2026, putting three referenda on the November ballot. This is one of two advisory (non-binding) questions.
According to the township, its food pantry now runs as a "client-choice" pantry, where clients pick items based on household size and available stock. It serves about 1,050 households, and about 38% of them include at least one senior citizen.
The township says the referendum is non-binding: the result would give community feedback but would not by itself create a pre-packaged meal program.
