Background
The Skokie Park District says the $53 million bond question would pay for improvements at Sports Park East and a new Channelside Park South.
The district says the Channelside South project would turn a former industrial site along the North Shore Channel into a new community park, and that the Sports Park East work would expand indoor and outdoor recreation at one of its most heavily used areas.
Before deciding, the district mailed a public opinion survey and fact sheet on June 8, 2026 to all 21,860 registered-voter households. Resolution #26-002, which submits the $53,000,000 general obligation park bond question to voters, was on the board's July 21, 2026 agenda; the posted packet does not record the vote.
