Background

The Peoria Heights Board of Trustees approved the wording of an advisory question on paying the City of Peoria Fire Department for automatic aid on November 18, 2025, by a 5-0 vote, after amending it to specify the November 3, 2026 general election, according to the board's minutes.

At that meeting, Trustee Wisenburg said she was worried voters might think the contract came at no cost, and the village attorney said that was possible but unlikely, the minutes say.

On December 2, 2025, the board adopted Resolution 2025-19 placing the question on the ballot, 5-0. Trustee Steinwedel said it was a nonbinding question meant to get public input, according to the minutes.

Put on the ballot by Village of Peoria Heights Board of Trustees, 5-0, December 2, 2025 (Resolution 2025-19).
