Ballot measure · November 3, 2026 · Bartholomew County School Corporation school district voters

What it does
Shall Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation continue to increase property taxes paid to the school corporation for no more than eight (8) years for the purpose of funding and maintaining competitive compensation for teachers and staff and maintaining student safety by imposing a property tax rate that does not exceed $0.156 and results in a maximum annual amount that does not exceed $10,100,000. If this operating referendum public question is NOT approved by the voters, for a median residence of $250,000, the property’s annual tax bill would decrease by $190 per year. If this operating referendum public question is approved by the voters, it would be a renewal of the most recent operating referendum public question passed in 2020 with a property tax rate of $0.156.
A YES vote means
Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation would continue its referendum property tax for up to eight years, renewing its 2020 referendum tax, at a rate of up to $0.156 and no more than $10,100,000 a year, to fund teacher and staff pay and student safety.
A NO vote means
The referendum tax would not continue; a median $250,000 home's yearly tax bill would drop by $190.

Background

According to the Indiana Department of Local Government Finance, Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation submitted its board resolution proposing the referendum on June 17, 2026, at a tax rate of $0.156 per $100 of assessed value.

The Bartholomew County Auditor certified the corporation's median household assessed value at $250,000, with an estimated annual tax increase of $190 for that home if the referendum passes.

The question is a renewal of the operating referendum voters approved in 2020.

The department found the proposed ballot language complied with Indiana law and approved it on June 22, 2026.

Put on the ballot by Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation Board of School Trustees (resolution submitted to DLGF June 17, 2026; board vote not stated in the DLGF determination).
