Background
On June 18, 2026, the Lebanon Common Council made a preliminary determination that the city needs a new police headquarters, to be financed through a lease with the Lebanon Public Building Corporation and bonds issued by it.
The same day, the council adopted Resolution No. 2026-23, which puts the project to voters through Indiana's local public question process.
According to the ballot question approved by the Boone County Election Board on July 1, 2026, principal would be no more than $52,165,000, with financing costs of up to $35,918,413 more. The estimated increase on a $250,000 median residence is $216 a year.
The Election Board then sent the question to the Indiana Department of Local Government Finance for review, as state law requires.
