Background

In a June 26, 2026 post, the district said the Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial school board had decided at a recent meeting to pursue an operating levy for the November ballot.

The district's tax information site, run by its financial advisor Ehlers, says the board will ask voters one question: whether to raise general education revenue by $391 per pupil for ten years, adjusted for inflation starting with taxes payable in 2028.

KEYC reported that Superintendent Brett Benson said the levy would add about $400,000 a year for roughly 905 students, after the district cut $600,000 over two years. The district estimated the cost for an average home at about $134 a year.
