What local offices are elected in Missouri?
Each county elects a county commission (a presiding commissioner and two associate commissioners), a county clerk, circuit clerk, recorder of deeds, collector, treasurer, assessor, sheriff, prosecuting attorney, public administrator and, in most counties, a coroner and surveyor. St. Louis, St. Charles, Jefferson and Jackson counties elect a county executive and a council instead (Jackson's is a legislature), and the City of St. Louis, which is outside any county, elects its own county officers. County races are partisan. Cities elect a mayor and council, and school districts elect their boards.
