Background
The Jones County Board of Commissioners adopted a resolution on July 13, 2026 requesting that this mixed beverage referendum be placed on the November 3, 2026 ballot, according to the county.
According to the county, a yes vote would let eligible licensed restaurants, hotels and private clubs apply for permits to sell mixed beverages (liquor by the drink) for on-premises consumption; a no vote keeps the current prohibition, with sales limited to beer and wine where otherwise allowed.
The county says the referendum applies to unincorporated Jones County and municipalities that have not already authorized mixed beverages; Maysville voters approved mixed beverage sales in 2024, and Pollocksville has its own town referendum on the same ballot.
