Background

According to the Douglas County ballot notice, a yes vote lets Valley spend up to 50% of its city sales tax revenue on a new pool and aquatic facility while keeping its plan to replace all critical water mains within four years; a no vote keeps all of the local sales tax going to water and wastewater projects.

A 2026 city-commissioned study by Waters Edge Aquatic Design says the existing pool ran for more than 50 years and was facing code deficiencies and failing infrastructure.

The study says residents rated zero-depth entry and children's play features as the most important features, and named recreational swimming, swim lessons and hosting parties or events as the most requested uses.
