What local offices are elected in Nebraska?
Each county elects a board of three, five or seven commissioners (or, in township counties, seven supervisors), plus a county clerk, treasurer and sheriff, and, depending on the county's size, an assessor, county attorney, clerk of the district court, register of deeds, surveyor and public defender (in small counties one officer often holds two of these). County races are partisan, for four-year terms. Cities and villages elect a mayor and council or a village board, and school districts elect their boards on a nonpartisan ballot.
