Background

Loudoun County staff asked the Board of Supervisors at its June 16, 2026 business meeting to adopt a resolution asking the Circuit Court to order a November 3 special election on up to $356,534,000 in general obligation bonds, split into separate questions. The board's Finance/Government Operations and Economic Development Committee had recommended it 3-0, with Letourneau and Randall absent.

According to the staff report, the public safety question would cover $28,195,000 for the Brambleton Sheriff Station and $7,236,000 for Fire and Rescue Station #29 at Loudoun Gateway. That totals $35,431,000, out of total project costs of $75,323,000.

The staff report says neither project had received voter referendum authority before.

Put on the ballot by Loudoun County Board of Supervisors, June 16, 2026 business meeting item 1h (resolution requesting a Circuit Court-ordered referendum; final tally not found in an online official record).
