Background
Spotsylvania County's 2026 bond package totals $401 million across four questions: schools, transportation, public safety, and environmental and solid waste.
The county's project list for the $237.3 million schools question shows $184.5 million for capital maintenance, additions, renovation and a new elementary school; $28.6 million for technology; and $24.2 million for school buses.
The Fredericksburg Free Press reported that the Board of Supervisors voted unanimously on Tuesday, May 26, 2026 to set the package's amounts and categories.
According to the Free Press, supervisors and some School Board members questioned why a new Career and Technical Center was dropped. The School Board majority chose to prioritize a new elementary school along the U.S. Route 1 corridor.
