City of Shoreline Proposition No. 1 — Formation of the Shoreline Metropolitan Park District (King County)
Ballot measure · November 3, 2026 · Shoreline voters
Results: the official election results site. Counts are unofficial until certified.
- What it does
- The Shoreline City Council adopted Resolution No. 562 concerning the creation of a metropolitan park district in Shoreline. This proposition would create the Shoreline Metropolitan Park District to finance and refinance the acquisition, construction, operation, maintenance, programming, renovation, and expansion of a pool facility and future recreational facilities. The District, with the same boundaries as Shoreline, governed by a Board composed of City Councilmembers, would exercise powers in state law, provide ongoing funding, levy regular property taxes not to exceed $0.75/$1,000 assessed valuation (anticipated initial rate $0.55/$1,000, or as necessary to generate approximately $8.8 million annually). Should the Shoreline Metropolitan Park District be formed?
- A YES vote means
- A Shoreline Metropolitan Park District would be formed, governed by the City Council, to fund a pool and future recreation facilities, with a property tax of up to $0.75 per $1,000 of assessed value (expected to start at $0.55, about $8.8 million a year).
- A NO vote means
- The Shoreline Metropolitan Park District would not be formed.
- Needed to pass
- A simple majority: more than half of the YES and NO votes on this measure must be YES. Leaving it blank doesn't count either way.
- Left–right lean
- Not a left–right issue: a procedural or local question that liberals and conservatives don't typically split on (AI read of the official ballot summary).
