Ballot measure · November 3, 2026 · Only voters in this district

What it does
The Board of Fire Commissioners of Skagit County Fire Protection District No. 5 (the "District"), adopted Resolution No. 2026-1 concerning a proposition to authorize the District's regular property tax levy. This measure would authorize a regular property tax levy of $0.78 per $1,000.00 of assessed valuation in 2026 (for collection in 2027) and would authorize a limit factor of up to 103% (but not to exceed the $1.50 rate) for each of the five succeeding years. The maximum allowable levy in 2031, collected in 2032, shall serve as the base for subsequent levy limitations as provided by Chapter 84.55 RCW. Should this proposition be approved?
A YES vote means
Skagit County Fire Protection District No. 5 would levy $0.78 per $1,000 of assessed value for collection in 2027, with yearly increases of up to 3% (never above $1.50) for the next five years.
A NO vote means
The District would not be authorized to levy this rate and these yearly increases.
What it would cost
Up to 0.78 mills: $78 a year for every $100,000 of taxable value (a mill is $1 per $1,000). Taxable value is after exemptions such as homestead; your tax bill or property appraiser shows yours.
Needed to pass
A simple majority: more than half of the YES and NO votes on this measure must be YES. Leaving it blank doesn't count either way.
Left–right lean
Not a left–right issue: a procedural or local question that liberals and conservatives don't typically split on (AI read of the official ballot summary).

The YES and NO lines are SpectrumVote's plain-language reading of the official text above; the official text is what you vote on.
