- Needed to pass
- A simple majority: more than half of the YES and NO votes on this measure must be YES. Leaving it blank doesn't count either way.
- Left–right lean
- Unclear: our AI read of the official summary isn't confident enough (we require 70%) to place this on the left–right spectrum, so we don't. Read the summary and decide for yourself.
Background
The district (MHLT) says it has not gone to referendum since 2006, and that declining enrollment and state funding that has not kept pace with inflation now leave it operating at a deficit.
The district says the money would maintain current programming, staff levels and class sizes, plus safety and facility maintenance priorities.
Because the referendum is recurring, the added $3.5 million in revenue authority would continue each year with no end date; the district estimates the tax impact at about $0.66 per $1,000 of property value.
