Background
Voters approved a three-year operational referendum in April 2024 that ends after the 2026-27 school year; the district says the new four-year request would keep funding at current levels rather than increase it.
The district says that without approval it would be legally required to collect over $2 million less in taxes than last year.
The district projects the mill rate would decline each year even with the referendum, with taxes falling by amounts ranging from $0.25 to $2.17 a month per $100,000 of property value, depending on the year.
The district says it has kept a level tax levy in five of the past six years by right-sizing staff, sharing services and maximizing enrollment.
