How it works

• Partisan: party nominees are chosen in the May 18 primary, and Pennsylvania's primaries are closed to voters not registered with a party (independents may vote on ballot questions).
• Nomination petitions circulate February 16 to March 9 under the state Election Code.
• Registration closes 15 days before each election.
