Background

The Piedmont City Council discussed a measure to adjust the city's Real Property Conveyance Tax at public meetings on June 15 and July 6, 2026, and on July 20, 2026 passed Ordinance 792 N.S. submitting it to voters, according to Council Resolution No. 58-2026.

The measure would raise the tax on property transfers from $13.00 to $17.50 per $1,000 of the sale price (from 1.3% to 1.75%) and retitle it the Real Property Transfer Tax in the Piedmont City Code.

According to the city, this is the only local measure on Piedmont's November 2026 ballot.

Put on the ballot by Piedmont City Council, July 20, 2026 (Ordinance 792 N.S.; Resolution No. 58-2026).
