Background
The Larkspur Fire Protection District has no bonded debt outstanding, and this measure would authorize $4.5 million in debt with a total repayment cost of up to $6.4 million and a maximum annual repayment of $427,333, according to the Douglas County ballot issue notice.
The ballot language lists replacement fire/EMS apparatus, design and infrastructure for a future station in the southeastern part of the district, training grounds and simulators, and prepaying existing lease obligations.
A companion measure on the same ballot, Issue 6A, asks for a 3.97-mill property tax increase for district operations.
The county notice includes a summary of written comments in favor, which cites a projected $579,800 shortfall in the district's 2026 budget, and states that no comments against were filed by the deadline.
