Background
The Charter Revision Commission presented its 2026 report to the Board of Selectmen on June 15, 2026, and on July 20, 2026 the board voted 7–0 to accept the final report and send the proposed amendments to the November 3, 2026 ballot, according to the board's minutes.
The town's voter-education handout says Registrars of Voters now serve two-year terms and the amendment would extend them to four years, effective January 3, 2029, when the current terms expire.
Other proposals on the ballot would make the Town Clerk appointed, limit service on multiple major town boards, change the budget timeline, and standardize the definitions of "elector" and "property owner," according to the handout.
