- A YES vote means
- New Canaan's charter would require elected and appointed town officers with managerial authority to follow town policies, ethics standards and lawful directives, and to answer to the First Selectman on administrative and operational matters that don't conflict with their legal authority.
- A NO vote means
- The charter would not add this requirement for town officers to follow these standards and answer to the First Selectman.
- Needed to pass
- A simple majority: more than half of the YES and NO votes on this measure must be YES. Leaving it blank doesn't count either way.
- Left–right lean
- Not a left–right issue: a procedural or local question that liberals and conservatives don't typically split on (AI read of the official ballot summary).
