Background

The Town Council created the Charter Revision Commission by unanimous vote on October 15, 2025; the commission filed a draft report on May 4, 2026 and its final report on July 10, 2026, and the council voted on the recommendations on July 15, 2026, according to the town's commission page.

The New Canaan Sentinel reported in April 2026 that the commission voted to add Planning and Zoning Commission appointments to the list requiring Town Council confirmation, which already includes the Board of Finance, Ethics Board and Audit Committee.

The town's posted Final Report with Town Council approval/rejection (July 27, 2026) could not be opened; the town's document host returned HTTP 403.

Put on the ballot by New Canaan Town Council, July 15, 2026 (vote on Charter Revision Commission recommendations; tally not posted on the town page).
