Evangeline Parish — Cemetery District No. 6 Proposition (Tax Renewal)

Last updated Sat, Nov 7, 4:33 PM ET

Ballot measure · November 3, 2026 · Only voters in this district

What it does
Shall the Cemetery District No. 6 of the Parish of Evangeline, State of Louisiana (the "District"), be authorized to continue to levy a one and twelve hundredths (1.12) mills tax on all property subject to taxation within the District, for a period of ten (10) years, beginning in the year 2027 and ending with the year 2036 (the estimated amount reasonably expected to be collected from the levy of the tax for one entire year being $20,000.00), for the purpose of maintaining and upkeeping public cemeteries located therein?
A YES vote means
Evangeline Cemetery District No. 6 would continue its 1.12-mill property tax from 2027 through 2036 to maintain public cemeteries.
A NO vote means
The district would not continue the 1.12-mill property tax for 2027 through 2036.
Needed to pass
A simple majority: more than half of the YES and NO votes on this measure must be YES. Leaving it blank doesn't count either way.
Left–right lean
Not a left–right issue: a procedural or local question that liberals and conservatives don't typically split on (AI read of the official ballot summary).

The YES and NO lines are SpectrumVote's plain-language reading of the official text above; the official text is what you vote on.

Background

This is a renewal: the proposition asks whether Cemetery District No. 6 of Evangeline Parish may continue to levy its existing 1.12-mill property tax for another 10 years (2027–2036), according to the Louisiana Secretary of State's proposition text.

The Evangeline Parish Police Jury requested the election; the State Bond Commission's June 18, 2026 agenda lists it among seven cemetery and road district tax renewals for Evangeline Parish (item L26-205).

The proposition estimates the tax will raise $20,000 a year, to be used for maintaining and upkeeping public cemeteries in the district.

Put on the ballot by Evangeline Parish Police Jury; election request on the State Bond Commission's June 18, 2026 agenda (L26-205).
