Results: the official election results site. Counts are unofficial until certified.
- What it does
- Shall Fire Protection District No. 18 of the Parish of Rapides, State of Louisiana (the "District"), continue to levy a special tax of 20 mills (the "Tax") (an estimated $436,000 reasonably expected at this time to be collected from the levy of the Tax for an entire year) on all the property subject to taxation in the District for a period of 10 years, beginning with the year 2028 and ending with the year 2037, for the purpose of acquiring, constructing, maintaining and/or operating fire protection and emergency medical service facilities, vehicles and equipment, including both movable and immovable property, and including paying the cost of obtaining water for fire protection purposes, provided that a portion of the Tax proceeds is required to be contributed to state and statewide retirement systems as provided in R.S. 11:82?
- A YES vote means
- Rapides Fire Protection District No. 18 would continue its 20-mill property tax from 2028 through 2037 for fire and emergency medical facilities, vehicles, equipment and water, with part going to state retirement systems.
- A NO vote means
- The district would not continue the 20-mill property tax for 2028 through 2037.
- Needed to pass
- A simple majority: more than half of the YES and NO votes on this measure must be YES. Leaving it blank doesn't count either way.
- Left–right lean
- Not a left–right issue: a procedural or local question that liberals and conservatives don't typically split on (AI read of the official ballot summary).
