Cuyahoga County Issue 17 — City of Bedford Heights: Proposed Charter Amendment

Ballot measure · November 3, 2026 · Bedford Heights voters

What it does
Shall Section 13.05 of the Charter of the City of Bedford Heights be amended to permit the Director of Finance's bond requirement to be satisfied by one or more insurance or risk-management policies or programs designed to protect the City against loss caused by dishonest acts, theft, or failure to faithfully perform official duties, including, without limitation, a Government Entity Crime Policy with a Faithful Performance of Duty endorsement, or any successor or substantially equivalent form of coverage maintained by the City, in an amount not less than that otherwise required for the bond, so long as such policy is maintained, in lieu of a separate surety bond?
A YES vote means
Bedford Heights' Director of Finance could meet the bond requirement with insurance or risk-management coverage, such as a Government Entity Crime Policy, of at least the required bond amount, instead of a separate surety bond.
A NO vote means
The Director of Finance's bond requirement would still have to be met as the charter now provides.
Needed to pass
A simple majority: more than half of the YES and NO votes on this measure must be YES. Leaving it blank doesn't count either way.
Left–right lean
Not a left–right issue: a procedural or local question that liberals and conservatives don't typically split on (AI read of the official ballot summary).

The YES and NO lines are SpectrumVote's plain-language reading of the official text above; the official text is what you vote on.
