Thompson is a former Canby mayor and has chaired the Canby Utility Board; she also served as an urban renewal commissioner, vice chair of the Clackamas County C-4 committee and on the city budget committee. She reports 22 years as a local-government professional, including work as a police administrative supervisor and city recorder/finance officer, and earlier retail management and small-business ownership.
