About Pete Rusek

Judge, 74th State District Court. Appointed by Gov. Greg Abbott in September 2025 to the 74th District Court after Judge Gary Coley Jr. resigned. A Waco attorney and shareholder at Sheehy, Lovelace and Mayfield, he represented clients including the Waco school board and McLennan Community College, served on the Midway ISD board from 1996 (president since 2004), and holds degrees from Texas A&M and Baylor Law School, where he has been an adjunct professor since 1987.
