Background
The Board of Selectmen appointed the Charter Revision Commission on July 21, 2025, and the commission adopted its final report at a special meeting on August 5, 2026, according to town records.
On August 24, 2026 the Board of Selectmen voted 2–1 (First Selectman Brendan Rea and Selectman Rob Chadd in favor, Selectman Tom Hennick opposed) to remove the proposed Town Administrator position, and voted unanimously to drop an administrative-handbook requirement and the commission's new fire-protection language, according to the board's meeting motions.
The board then voted unanimously to accept the rest of the final report, with the Board of Selectmen size and an appointed tax collector and town clerk set out as separate questions, according to the motions.
The town posted the full redlined amendments that go to voters as "Proposed Amendments to the Town Charter for Approval at Town General Election November 3, 2026."
