Background

The Charter Revision Committee presented four proposed revisions to the Board of Selectmen at a special meeting on August 24, 2026, including raising the grant-match approval limit in Charter Section 2-5(d) from $10,000 to $35,000, according to the minutes.

Committee member Trav Harmon said raising the grant-match limit is in line with inflation, according to the minutes.

At its regular meeting later that night, the Board of Selectmen voted 2–0, with one member absent, to send the commission's revisions to the town clerk and the state for the November ballot, according to the minutes.

Put on the ballot by Plainfield Board of Selectmen, 2–0 (Selectman Mike Surprenant absent), August 24, 2026.
