Allen Parish — Ambulance Service District No. 1 Proposition (Tax Renewal)

Last updated Sat, Nov 7, 4:33 PM ET

Ballot measure · November 3, 2026 · Only voters in this district

What it does
Shall Ambulance Service District No. 1 of the Parish of Allen, State of Louisiana (the "District"), continue to levy a 9.76 mills tax (the estimated amount reasonably expected to be collected from the levy of the tax for one entire year being $640,000) on all property subject to taxation in said District for a period of 10 years, beginning with the year 2029 and ending with the year 2038, for the purpose of acquiring, maintaining and operating equipment and facilities necessary to provide ambulance service and care for the residents of the District?
A YES vote means
Allen Parish Ambulance Service District No. 1 would continue its 9.76-mill property tax from 2029 through 2038 for ambulance equipment, facilities and service.
A NO vote means
The district would not continue the 9.76-mill property tax for 2029 through 2038.
What it would cost
9.76 mills (estimated) for 10 years: $976 a year for every $100,000 of taxable value (a mill is $1 per $1,000). Louisiana assesses homes at 10% of market value, so that's about $97.60 per $100,000 of market value, before the homestead exemption. Taxable value is after exemptions such as homestead; your tax bill or property appraiser shows yours. It would continue a tax already in place rather than add a new one.
Needed to pass
A simple majority: more than half of the YES and NO votes on this measure must be YES. Leaving it blank doesn't count either way.
Left–right lean
Not a left–right issue: a procedural or local question that liberals and conservatives don't typically split on (AI read of the official ballot summary).

The YES and NO lines are SpectrumVote's plain-language reading of the official text above; the official text is what you vote on.
