Allen Parish — Kinder Drainage District No. 2 Proposition (Tax Renewal)
Ballot measure · November 3, 2026 · Only voters in this district
Results: the official election results site. Counts are unofficial until certified.
- What it does
- Shall Drainage District No. 2 of the Parish of Allen, State of Louisiana (Kinder Drainage District No. 2), continue to levy a special tax of 4 mills (the estimated amount reasonably expected to be collected from the levy of the tax for one entire year being $105,000) on all the property subject to taxation in said District, for a period of 10 years beginning with the year 2028 and ending with the year 2037, for the purpose of improving, maintaining and operating said District's drainage works?
- A YES vote means
- Kinder Drainage District No. 2 would continue its 4-mill property tax from 2028 through 2037 to improve, maintain and run its drainage works.
- A NO vote means
- The district would not continue the 4-mill property tax for 2028 through 2037.
- What it would cost
- 4 mills (estimated) for 10 years: $400 a year for every $100,000 of taxable value (a mill is $1 per $1,000). Louisiana assesses homes at 10% of market value, so that's about $40 per $100,000 of market value, before the homestead exemption. Taxable value is after exemptions such as homestead; your tax bill or property appraiser shows yours. It would continue a tax already in place rather than add a new one.
- Needed to pass
- A simple majority: more than half of the YES and NO votes on this measure must be YES. Leaving it blank doesn't count either way.
- Left–right lean
- Not a left–right issue: a procedural or local question that liberals and conservatives don't typically split on (AI read of the official ballot summary).
