Terrebonne Parish — Parishwide Proposition No. 1 of 2 (TARC Tax Renewal)
Ballot measure · November 3, 2026
Results: the official election results site. Counts are unofficial until certified.
- What it does
- Shall the Parish of Terrebonne, State of Louisiana (the "Parish"), continue to levy a five and thirty-three hundredths (5.33) mills tax on all the property subject to taxation within the Parish (an estimated $5,856,495 reasonably expected at this time to be collected from the levy of the tax for the entire year), for a period of ten (10) years, beginning with the year 2028 and ending with the year 2037, for the purpose of operating, maintaining and constructing facilities for all people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Terrebonne Parish?
- A YES vote means
- Terrebonne Parish would continue a 5.33-mill property tax from 2028 through 2037 for facilities serving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
- A NO vote means
- The parish would not continue the 5.33-mill tax for 2028 through 2037.
- Needed to pass
- A simple majority: more than half of the YES and NO votes on this measure must be YES. Leaving it blank doesn't count either way.
- Left–right lean
- Not a left–right issue: a procedural or local question that liberals and conservatives don't typically split on (AI read of the official ballot summary).
Background
This would continue Terrebonne Parish's 5.33-mill tax for 2028–2037, estimated at $5,856,495 a year, for facilities serving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, according to the Louisiana Secretary of State's proposition text.
The Terrebonne Parish Council requested the election. The State Bond Commission's June 18, 2026 agenda (item L26-187) lists it with renewals for Road Lighting Districts No. 2 and No. 4 and a 7.31-mill parishwide drainage tax.
