What it does
Shall the Parish of Terrebonne, State of Louisiana (the "Parish"), continue to levy a seven and thirty-one hundredths (7.31) mills tax on all the property subject to taxation within the Parish (an estimated $8,032,078 reasonably expected at this time to be collected from the levy of the tax for an entire year), for a period of ten (10) years, beginning with the year 2028 and ending with the year 2037, for the purpose of operating, maintaining and constructing drainage works within and for said Parish, title to which shall be in the public?
A YES vote means
Terrebonne Parish would continue a 7.31-mill property tax from 2028 through 2037 to operate, maintain and build drainage works.
A NO vote means
The parish would not continue the 7.31-mill drainage tax for 2028 through 2037.
Needed to pass
A simple majority: more than half of the YES and NO votes on this measure must be YES. Leaving it blank doesn't count either way.
Left–right lean
Not a left–right issue: a procedural or local question that liberals and conservatives don't typically split on (AI read of the official ballot summary).

Background

The Terrebonne Parish Council sought Louisiana State Bond Commission approval for a package of millage questions, item L26-187 on the Commission's June 18, 2026 agenda. The package included Road Lighting Districts No. 2 and 4, a parishwide millage for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and this drainage millage.

According to the proposition text, the parish would continue a 7.31-mill tax for 2028 through 2037 to operate, maintain and build drainage works, estimated at $8,032,078 a year.
