Background
According to the interpretive statement in the Bergen County Clerk's public-question list, this is a non-binding question asking voters whether New Milford should continue its existing Open Space, Recreation, Farmland and Historic Preservation Trust Fund.
The Borough could raise up to one cent per $100 of equalized property value each year for the fund. The statement says that at the maximum rate, owners would contribute $10 per $100,000 of assessed value.
Per the question, the governing body decides how to spend the money only after at least one public hearing, and fund income may be used only for trust fund purposes.
