Background
This is a citizen initiative: according to the petition attached to the City Council's August 18, 2026 special meeting minutes, electors petitioned to submit an ordinance to voters at the November 3, 2026 general election.
The petition states that City Council's Ordinance No. 2026-12 rezoned the parcel on Parkland Boulevard (Permanent Parcel 863-20-003) from U-7: Headquarters or Executive Offices Park Districts to U-2A(1): Planned Unit Development Districts, Minimum Three Acres; the proposed ordinance would return it to U-7 and direct city officials to update the zoning map.
At the August 18, 2026 special meeting, the proposed ordinance was read and Council voted 6–0, with Council Member Telban absent, to refer it to the Committee of the Whole.
