Election night: live results from the official election site. Counts are unofficial until certified.
- What it does
- Shall Section 7.5 of the Third Amended Charter of the City of Lakewood be amended to clarify that amendments to the Charter may be submitted to the registered voters of the city in three manners: upon the recommendation of a two-thirds majority vote of the members of the Charter Review Commission and submission by Council to a vote of the people; by an affirmative vote of Council of at least two-thirds of councilmembers; or upon receipt of a petition signed by not less than ten percent (10%) of the registered voters of the city?
- A YES vote means
- Lakewood's charter would clarify that charter amendments can reach voters three ways: a two-thirds Charter Review Commission recommendation sent by Council, a two-thirds Council vote, or a petition signed by at least 10% of registered voters.
- A NO vote means
- The charter's wording on how amendments reach voters would not be clarified in this way.
- Needed to pass
- A simple majority: more than half of the YES and NO votes on this measure must be YES. Leaving it blank doesn't count either way.
- Left–right lean
- Not a left–right issue: a procedural or local question that liberals and conservatives don't typically split on (AI read of the official ballot summary).
