Background

Orange Village Council appointed a 2026 Charter Review Commission by Ordinance No. 2026-1 (January 14, 2026), as the charter requires every eight years; the commission was to report proposed changes to Council by May 31, 2026.

According to the commission's April 13, 2026 minutes, members voted to propose that the Treasurer be selected like other Council-confirmed appointments, and asked the Law Director to draft the language.

At its April 27, 2026 meeting the commission rejected 3-6 a proposal to add qualifications such as being a CPA for the Treasurer, then approved the drafted language, according to the minutes.

Put on the ballot by Orange Village Council, 2026, on the recommendation of the 2026 Charter Review Commission (Council's ballot ordinance not found online).
