Background

South San Antonio ISD adopted a tax rate above its voter-approval rate. Under Section 26.08 of the Texas Tax Code, that requires an election for voters to approve the rate.

According to the election order, the $1.1970 rate would raise maintenance and operations tax revenue 11.44% over the preceding year, an additional $2,776,267.

State law requires an efficiency audit before such an election. On June 15, 2026, the board chose MoakCasey, LLC to do the audit, and the order says the results would be presented to the board on September 21, 2026.

The order calling the election was passed and approved on August 27, 2026.

Put on the ballot by South San Antonio ISD Board of Trustees, vote not stated, August 27, 2026 (Order of Voter-Approval Tax Ratification Election).
