Background

The Del Valle ISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved calling this voter-approval tax rate election for the November 3 ballot, according to an August 12, 2026 district announcement.

The district says Proposition A would provide $13.9 million in new maintenance and operations funding in the current fiscal year, to be used for additional raises for teachers and staff and for programs and staff at a second high school scheduled to open in 2028.

Based on an average home market value of $314,376 and the $140,000 state homestead exemption, the district estimates a $9.14 annual increase for homeowners, and says homeowners with an over-65 or disability exemption would see no increase.

The district says operating costs have risen nearly 25% due to inflation over seven years while the state's basic allotment increased by less than 1%.

Put on the ballot by Del Valle ISD Board of Trustees, unanimous (announced August 12, 2026).
